ConocoPhillips, Revamp Project, Carson, California. From January 2009 to June, 2009. The project activities are limited to system upgrades and main control room modifications. Responsibilities included the design, engineering, and procurement of required instrumentation. Furthermore, presently involve in technically supporting Paramount Refinery, Alon Hydrotreater project construction activities.
Working with other companies, he is responsible for the successful commissioning of Meralco’s first sub-critical once through steam generating units; Southern CA Gas first microprocessor based control gas testing facility in Pico Rivera; first GE BWR 6 nuclear steam generating units in Taiwan; first pressurized nuclear reactors (PWR) in Korea; and the Shell Wilmington DCU microprocessor based controls upgrade. Prior to joining Jacobs, Nani was the overall instrumentation lead engineer on the Chevron Bundled Projects for both El Segundo and Richmond Chevron Refineries. Nani’s representative professional assignments include the following:
- ConocoPhillips, FCC Energy Reduction Project, Wilmington, California. Project Overall Lead Engineer, May, 2008 to Dec., 2008. Overall project supervision and management in the executions of the project. Performed the overall planning and scheduling as well as the coordination with the project management teams. Supervised technical evaluation of bids, preparation of engineering design documents and interfaced the client to resolve project execution issue(s) and other expectations.
- Chevron Bundled Projects, Chevron PRO+ Projects in El Segundo and Chevron Hydrogen Purity Projects in Richmond, California. Project Overall Lead Engineer, July, 2006 to May, 2008. $500 Millions project cost. Overall project supervision and management in the executions of various sub-projects. Performed the overall planning and scheduling as well as the coordination with the project management teams. Supervised technical evaluation of bids, preparation of engineering design documents and interfaced with WorleyParsons high valued engineering (HVE) team in Beijing China to execute INTOOLS deliverables.
- Canadian Natural Resource Ltd. (CNRL) Oil Sands Project, Keweit Co, Calgary, Canada, Jan., 2004 to Aug., 2006. Multi-millions project cost. Lead engineer in charge of the technical and contract administration of the safety instrumentation system and all the instrumentation local control panels. Participated actively in the cause and effect analysis of the system and equipment and in the process Hazop analyses. Reviewed the P&IDs and system operational analyses of the SRU units.
- Shell Wilmington Refinery, Shell Co. Wilmington, CA. Project Lead Engr., Jan.2002 to Jan., 2004 - $25 Millions project. Overall lead and designer of the Shell Wilmington Decoking unit (DCU) controls upgrade. Pioneered in the design of the DCU upgrade for Shell Wilmington. The project was done on time and under budget. The completion of the project eliminated personnel hazards during the coker drum switching and coker drum bottom unheading systems.
- Parsons Corporation, Pasadena, CA. Sr. Supervising Engineer, Sept.1998 to Dec.,2001 – Worked on various projects (PetroKemya, Saudi Arabia; Boqueron Oil/Gas Producing; and others) in providing technical & contract management assistance in obtaining special control equipment and in supporting the field/construction and start-up teams.
- Commonwealth Edison, Design Basis Initiative Project, Chicago. Project I&C Lead Engineer, Mar.,1997 to Aug.,1998 – Assigned at the Quad Cities BWR Nuclear Station and Zion PWR Nuclear Stations in Chicago responsible for the preparation and review of the existing design documents, safety analysis reports, USNRC technical issues and resolutions, calculations and plant operating procedures. Coordinated with plant supervisors and gathered all pertinent technical data and factual information to support the nuclear plant life extension and licensing documents updates to USNRC’s requirement.
- Quezon Power Project, Bechtel Intergen-Ogden-PMR Joint Venture. Owner’s Business Representative, Mar.1996 to Mar.1997 – Responsible in the coordination of the legal staff and right of way officers in the negotiation and acquisition of land rights for the project transmission lines and power plant station site in the Philippines. Interfaced with various Philippines Consulate Officers in the U.S., land owners residing in the U.S. and in various neighboring countries to resolve all legal and land rights issues. Conducted town hall meetings in various municipalities to clarify various technical and environmental issues with the people in the communities.
- Bechtel Multi-Projects, Norwalk, CA Project Engineer and Controls Specialist , Feb.1990 to Feb.1996– Responsible in the DCS Upgrade for Hydro Quebec Tracy Power Station DCS Upgrades, Westinghouse Combined Cycle Plant at Borax, Nevada Power, Mexico (CFE) Coal Fired Thermal Plant studies, Alice Springs Cogen Plant in Australia, Elk Hills Chevron Cogen Plant, William Field Services Cogen at Milagro, New Mexico, San Onofre (SONGS) Nuclear plants, Southern Gas of CA Test Plant, Arco & Unocal Refineries, and others.
- KEPCO Nuclear KNU 5/6 and KNU 7/8 PWR Projects, Bechtel Power Norwalk, CA Engineering Group Supv. (EGS), Aug, 1979 to Mar.1990 – Responsible for the licensing, design and construction of both KNU 5/6 and KNU 7/8 in Pusan and Yeongwang, respectively. Performed the design and procurement of the Nuclear power plant instrumentation and coordination with the KEPCO project team in the U.S. and at the site.
- Taiwan Kuosheng Nuclear BWR 6 Power Projects, Bechtel Power Norwalk, CA design and construction of the first in the world BWR 6 Engineering Group Supv. (EGS), Feb.1973 to July 1979 – Responsible for the licensing, with suppression pool design. Performed the design and procurement of the Nuclear power plant instrumentation and coordination with the KEPCO project team in the U.S. and at the site.
- Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) Thermal Power Plant Projects, Manila, Philippines Chief Start-Up and Operation Engineer, Nov.,1964 to Feb.,1973 – Responsible for the design review, field construction supervision, equipment and system testing, commissioning of the entire commercial power station and release to commercial operation. Prior to the chief engineer position, I was a Sr. Instrument and Plant Results engineer doing the maintenance and plant equipment performance efficiency testing in all commercially operating thermal plants of MERALCO.
